I specialise in tailor-made journeys across Southern and East Africa. From self-drive adventures to exclusive stays.
I lived in Cape Town for many years and had the privilege of traveling across Southern Africa with my husband and our two children. We explored the region as a resident, not a tourist, allowing us to see more than the typical itinerary. We slept in roof-tents, self-catering units and high end lodges across 8 countries over our time there. And because of my passion for travel, I decided to start Meerkat Travel.
Today, Meerkat isn’t just my job, it’s a way to keep experiences alive and pass them on to those who are up for a family adventure.
I know what it’s like to travel with kids, across a country you don’t know. How important it is to balance adventure with comfort, and to find places that make a trip unforgettable for your family.
That’s why personal experience and connection is at the heart of everything I do.

How it works
1. After you reach out, we talk. You tell me about your family, the ages (of the kids), interests, energy levels, what you're dreaming of, what you're nervous about…
We discuss your budget (if you have one in mind) and I walk you through all the costs and fees. Full transparancy.
2. I plan, puzzle and put together an itinerary that makes sense for you. Not a template, not a best-seller, no cookie-cutter agenda, but something built around your family's rhythm.
I'll explain why I've chosen each place, each lodge, each experience.
3. You look it over. We tweak it together. Maybe swap a safari lodge for an extra beach day. Or the other way around. Maybe add a hot air balloon ride, whale watching tour or fine dining experience? It's your trip.

4. Once you are happy with the itinerary, I book the accommodations, logistics, activities, baby beds and more.
You will receive a travel booklet with all the details to get into the mood and to ensure you are fully prepared when you board the plane.
5. All you have to do is show up, be present and enjoy. You'll have my number in case anything comes up, and local contacts too.
5. You return home. With so many stories, photos, and, if I've done my job well, an unforgettable family adventure in your pocket!
Where to go?
Where to go depends entirely on your family, the time of travel, your budget and your wishlist.
December is perfect for long summer days in South Africa, while July is ideal for exploring Namibia’s vast landscapes for example. Knowing when to go makes all the difference. Because you want to avoid the rainy season, maximize wildlife sightings and have the best possible conditions for your experiences.

You could spend months in this country alone. It is a great destination for families of all ages. Safari with young kids, water sports and incredible beaches for teenagers, buzzing city life and exquisite food and wine for adults.
